Growth Spotlight 🚨
This week, we’re kicking off our summer series—and it’s all about growth in our community. Each edition will spotlight the many ways the Mont Belvieu area is changing and how that growth is shaping the future.
Made in Barbers Hill: Growing Local Together
Today we’re shining a light on how this community has shaped the lives of our local graduates and set them on a path to success.
With a graduating class of 536 students, Barbers Hill ISD continues to grow year after year. But even as the numbers rise, one thing remains consistent: an exceptionally high graduation rate. For context, a neighboring district reported a four-year graduation rate of 94.9% for the 2023–2024 school year. Barbers Hill quietly outpaced that with a rate of 98.7%, reflecting the high level of academics and support our students receive—even as the district grows.
Over the past week, we had the chance to speak with some of this year’s graduates. A common thread emerged: not only a sense of accomplishment, but a deep pride in being a Barbers Hill Eagle. 🦅 They spoke of academic growth, personal development, and the lasting impact of this community.
Take Kolby Stork, for example. A National Honor Society member since 2020 and a 2024 Business Professionals of America state qualifier, Kolby was also part of the historic 2025 State-Qualifying Golf Team. Yet his journey isn’t ending here—he plans to play D2 collegiate golf and dreams of returning to Mont Belvieu to launch his own golf brand. “BH always gave me that small-town feel but always challenged me academically,” Kolby said. He’s already earned enough credits to enter college as a sophomore and aims to graduate with a Master’s in Finance by 2030.
Another standout is Sky Easterbook, who recently accepted an offer to play for FC Odisea Femenino in Castellón de la Plana, Spain! “I’ve been in the Barbers Hill community for five years, and the move made me stronger and helped me advocate for myself,” she shared. A Type 1 diabetic, Sky dreams of becoming a pediatric endocrinologist to help other kids like her. Her journey began locally, reffing BH Youth Soccer, which helped her build confidence and connect with families in the area.
And then there’s Camron Crowder, who joined BHISD in 5th grade. “This district shaped me academically—and as a person,” she said. Camron credits the staff, community service opportunities, and local scholarships with inspiring her growth. She plans to attend Texas A&M and earn a degree in biology, with the ultimate goal of becoming a Doctor of Dental Surgery and opening her own practice.
These graduates are a testament to what makes this area and BHISD so special. Their dreams, determination, and love for this community are shaped by the people, programs, and purpose that define our schools. Let’s continue to grow with intention—never forgetting what makes us more than just a place… we’re a legacy.

A Historic Flight: Barbers Hill's Class of 2025 Makes School History and Welcomes a New Graduation Tradition
The Barbers Hill High School Class of 2025 made history this week—twice.
Not only did this graduating class set a school record with 536 students, it also marked the launch of a powerful new tradition: the district’s first-ever eagle flyover at Eagle Stadium.
To the amazement of students and a cheering crowd, Clark—a 22-year-old bald eagle—soared above the Class of 2025 in two majestic passes, a stirring sight that drew gasps and applause. Superintendent Dr. Greg Poole announced that the flyover will become a permanent tradition at future Barbers Hill graduation ceremonies.
“Seeing these majestic birds in person affirms our forefathers’ decision 95 years ago to make it our mascot,” said Dr. Poole. “They have a regal bearing that no painting or sculpture captures.”
Clark, who weighs about 7.5 pounds and boasts a wingspan just over 6 feet, resides at the World Bird Sanctuary in Valley Park, Missouri. He was accompanied to Mont Belvieu by his handler, Daniel Cone, the sanctuary’s assistant director.
Clark's story carries a remarkable legacy. He is the son of Captain, a bald eagle gifted to President Ronald Reagan in 1982 by West German Chancellor Helmut Schmidt, at a time when the bald eagle was still listed as an endangered species. While Captain fathered several eaglets released into the wild, Clark was born with a congenital foot condition that made life in the wild unsafe. Instead, he became an ambassador for conservation, traveling the country with Cone to inspire and educate.
The World Bird Sanctuary, Clark’s home, is at the forefront of raptor rehabilitation and conservation. Its Wildlife Hospital treats over 600 birds of prey annually, with nearly half successfully returned to the wild.
Clark's performance at Barbers Hill was not just a visual spectacle—it served as a symbol of the bald eagle’s successful recovery. Once endangered, the species was officially removed from the endangered list after decades of conservation work. On Christmas Eve 2024, a law was signed officially declaring the bald eagle as the “national bird of the United States”—a status it has symbolically held as part of the Great Seal since 1782.
As Barbers Hill’s newest graduates stepped into their future beneath the shadow of a soaring eagle, they did so beneath a symbol of strength, resilience, and pride—a fitting tribute to both their legacy and the generations still to come.

Barbers Hill Athletics | STATE BOUND X2
This past week wasn’t just an outstanding success for our Barbers Hill graduates—it was a huge win for BH athletes in baseball and softball! Both teams broke through the competition and are now headed to STATE.
Lady Eagles softball continued to dominate their opponents, and Thursday’s game was no exception. Hailey Nutter delivered a stellar performance, striking out 18 batters in a no-hitter that ended with a 4–0 victory. The Lady Eagles will face off against Melissa High School on May 30th.
The baseball team brought the same fire to the field on Thursday, kicking off Regional Finals with an 8–2 win. On Saturday, they sealed the deal with a 2–0 victory, punching their golden ticket to STATE! They play May 29th against Smithson Valley and one thing’s for sure: they’re state bound!
